HUBBUB - Celebrating Community and Creativity in Springwood

HUBBUB will see Springwood Library, Braemar House and Blue Mountains Theatre + Community Hub joining together for a great day filled with free activities, workshops, exhibitions, artisan markets and a Book Week parade!

With something for everyone, this is an event not to be missed!

Program of events

LOVE LOCAL MAKERS MARKETS from 9am
This curated market brings together a range of contemporary local artists and producers, with all goods crafted by hand in the Blue Mountains. Browse a variety of unique handmade wares, relax with a coffee and sweet treat, enjoy free entertainment and watch live demonstrations.

Multi-instrumentalist Kelly Winning will be performing in the forecourt from 9:30am

 

HUB UPSTAIRS GALLERY from 10am
Changemakers: Crafting a difference exhibition launch + artist talk and a free craftivism workshop. Featuring banners created by Tal Fitzpatrick using mostly upcycled materials, it invites visitors to explore “craftivism” - a social process of collective empowerment, action and expression.

10am – Changemakers: Crafting a difference artist talk

BOOK WEEK OPENING EVENT from 11am
Celebrate Book Week with fun activities at Springwood Library!

Dress as your favourite character for the Book Week Parade in the courtyard, accompanied by Hands, Heart and Feet drummers. Goody bag prizes will be awarded for the most creative costumes! All ages welcome.

11am to 1:30pm - Get crafty in the Library with library bag decorating and badge making!

12pm – Book Week Parade with Hands, Heart and Feet

12:15pm - Hands, Heart and Feet interactive drum and dance performance on the forecourt - all welcome to participate. 

 

BRAEMAR HOUSE from 9am
Come and celebrate the re-opening of beloved Braemar House with something for all the family to enjoy!

Experience the historic hallway in all its glory following the completion of the recent restoration works.

Enjoy the Spirit of the Blue Mountains exhibition by the Braemar Gallery volunteers and take a peek at the Creative Spaces co-working studios for digital creatives and artists. 

The Sculpture Garden, now featuring new works by sculptor Laurent Rivory, will welcome the Springwood Spinners & Weavers Association and allow you to have a go at spinning yarn.

Join our Pom Pom Picnic on the lawn and create your very own pom pom to hang in one of the trees or take home with you.

Make some noise with Robert Frost’s Interactive Electronic Instrument Playground 

11am - Official reopening of Braemar House 

1:15pm join Counterpoint -  a local children’s music ensemble consisting of xylophones, metallophones, glockenspiels and other percussion instruments – for a free performance in the Hub foyer!

 

FOOD
Grab a cup of delicious hot soup in the Dining Room!
All proceeds will go towards the Blue Fringe Art and Literature Festival held in October.
This event is proudly supported by Springwood Neighbourhood Centre and Belong Blue Mountains and celebrates the creativity of people with a lived experience of mental health.
