Standing together against systematic oppression
Women around the world are speaking up and there has been a ferocious backlash. The courage of women who are insisting on fighting back when their freedoms are threatened or curtailed is both an inspiration and a cause for optimism. This panel will explore why there is such a determined and ruthless war against women, where women’s rights are at this moment, and what women must do to gain – or retain – their freedom.
Featuring: Mona Eltahawy (editor of the Feminist Giant newsletter, an examination of gender-based attacks and the people fighting against them across the globe); Fatima Bhutto (Pakistani journalist, author and poet, who writes of the dangers for women in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iran), and Chelsea Watego (Munanjahli and South Sea Islander academic and author of Another Day in the Colony).
With Chelsea Watego, Fatima Bhutto & Mona Eltahawy
