Deborah Conway has been a musician for 40 years, has played countless live shows from stadiums to
lounge rooms; has recorded a lot of songs, has produced records, shows, tours & festivals. Conway met
Willy Zygier in 1991 and together they have released 10 albums. Conway & Zygier produced four iterations
of the national concert series Broad, the all female singer/songwriter review 2005 – 2008, Conway became
Artistic Director for the Queensland Music Festival 2009 – 2011; in 2014 they established The Melbourne
Shir Madness Jewish Music Festival (now FoJAM) for 2015 & 2017.
There have been gongs along the way - Conway with her band Do-Re-Mi won 1985’s Countdown Award for Best Debut Single; in 1991 Conway collected an Aria Award for Best Female Performer for her debut album
String Of Pearls; in 2016 Conway and Zygier’s 1993 anthem 'Alive and Brilliant' was inducted into the National Film and Sound Archive; also in 2016 Conway was named a Living Legend both by the Leaps & Bounds Festival and Rolling Stone Magazine; in 2017 Conway and Zygier’s show was nominated for a
Helpmann Award; in 2019 Conway was made a National Living Legend by the National Live Music Awards.
In 2020 Conway received Member (AM) of the Order Of Australia (General Division) for significant service
to the performing arts as a singer, songwriter and producer.
In 2020 Conway received the Australia Council Don Banks Award given to an artist for their outstanding contribution to Australian Cultural Life through music.
